Response to Ryan’s Motorcycle Awareness October 27, 2009

I agree with Ryan when he says there should be an awareness class with driver’s education. It is very dangerous to ride a motorcycle now a day because of the fact that no one pays attention. Last year my brother got into a T-bone accident but luckily, he did not die. He was going the speed limit down a road and while a minivan turned left, my brother continued along the road. Well the SUV did not see my brother and proceeded out and my brother dumped the bike at 35 smashed his fema bone in his leg and hit the car. Now if that is not bad enough with how the car insurance wrote the claim it looked like my brother was at fault and not only did he have to get a rod and screws put into his leg he LOST the case did not receive money for his bike. He now has that on his driving record and a permanent rod. If there were some awareness class then maybe this would never have happened.
Is the United States really the land of the free? October 23, 2009

The United States claims that they are the home of the free but in reality, we are not entirely free. I am not saying we should have ultimate freedom and I do agree there should be limitations on what we can and cannot do. The issue I have is we are told what we can and cannot do.
I feel that there should not be a drinking age and if people want to do drugs then so be it. I am not saying go back to your dorm or house and drink a 40 and smoke a blunt but if you are the type of person who does this why is it not allowed. People are capable of making decisions and if it comes to doing drugs or if you are under 21 why are we not allowed to drink.
In other countries, they teach their children to respect alcohol but in this country, we are taught to fear it. What I mean is in the European countries they are told to not abuse it but here we are told that when you drink you could die. I feel that if the drinking age was lowered I feel like college kids would get tired of drinking and they slowly would stop binge drinking and drink casually. In addition, I think marijuana should be legalized because of the fact that it is used as a medicated drug but if you do not have a prescription then you could potentially get in trouble. That is kind of contradicting itself because the government allows some people to smoke but not all, which is not right.
Once again I am NOT saying to smoke and drink because there are health issues from them but the US has a bogus way of allowing them to some and not all which makes me feel like we are not free but restricted.
Response to the 2016 Olympic Debate October 6, 2009

This is in response to the blog post The Obama’s fly to Copenhagen, Denmark hopeful for a 2016 Olympics in Chicago, IL
I 100% agree with Dan’s post about Obama’s plan to get the Olympics in Chicago in 2016. Obama should deal with more important issues than trying to get the Olympics in Chicago in 7 years. Dan makes very valid arguments in which there more important issues that need to be solved or even started to be solved rather than try to get the Olympics here in the US in 7 years. Obama should try considering these issues instead of the Olympics. Some which include the economic decline, terrorism, and plans on how to either win the war or even slowly end the war.
Is Saturn a thing of the past? September 30, 2009

Just recently, GM announced it was going to keep shut down the production of their Saturn vehicles. At the end of 2011 Saturn, vehicles will be no more and they will dwindle with time. GM could not sell the branch and thus they need to close it off to save money. Roger Penske, a racing magnate could not find a manufacturer to continue the production forcing him to walk away from the deal. Penske was going to obtain 371 factories and now all those factories are going to be shutdown and the workers will be released. Penske tried to get another manufacturer to build Saturn cars but they refused because the car did not have their name on it. Saturn will continue to keep Aura, Outlook, Vue, but once 2011 hits they will stop the production. GM decided to sell Saturn because they never brought in money and the only reason they had Saturn was to compete with the smaller Japanese cars.
Saturn began production in the early 80’s and since then it has not actually figured out what to build or even how to continue with one product to keep people interested in it. It seems that every model is being changed and redone because no one actually likes them. This is one major reason why GM says they want out with Saturn. In addition, if GM sells Saturn or even gets rid of it they can potentially get back more money than they lost in the past 26 years.
